Condition

Overall very good condition. Each of the pieces with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, light wear to the gilt finish, traces of surface soiling, discolorations and minor oxidation consistent with age and gentle use. The bronze surfaces throughout with some occasional instances of pitting. The polychrome decoration with occasional minor instances of wear and minor losses consistent with age and gentle use. Each of the two inkstands with a clear glass liner; the larger inkstand with a period commercial liner, the smaller with a later replaced liner. The thermometer plate lacks a thermometer component. (The mercury thermometer illustrated in the catalogue is for presentation purposes only. If desired a modern thermometer could easily be added to this element.) A well-assembled set; the pieces are executed in a mix of both flat and doré gilt finishes and with slightly varying degrees of polychrome decoration, visible in the catalogue illustration.
