Condition

Overall very good condition. This ingenious inkstand rotates on its base for ease of use and features various colored turtle-back tile inkwell lids to color code one’s inks. The patinated bronze surfaces display an exceptionally rich green and russet brown patina, with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions and rubbing consistent with age and gentle handling. With traces of light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design. The turtle-back tiles are strongly iridized and present with a wide range of intense jewel-tone hues. All of the tiles appear original and undisturbed. The leading surrounding the top circular green glass turtle-back tile with a few edge losses, visible in the catalogue illustration. The inkstand with three period clear glass inkwell liners, each with traces of ink stains. An exceptional example of this rare, highly sculptural model that demonstrates Tiffany’s masterful integration of utility, form, and artistry.
