Claw-set with a rectangular step-cut sapphire, within a scroll and foliate surround set with circular-cut and rose diamonds, brooch fitting detachable.

Sapphire blue of medium saturation, transparent, measuring approximately 10.40 x 12.20 x 5.10mm, estimated weight approximately 6.40 carats, with typical inclusions visible under magnification, some surface scratches and areas of minor wear to facet edges. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total weight 1.00-1.20 carats, estimated clarity I on average, estimated colour H-I on average, as gauged and graded within the limitations of the mount. Later brooch fitting, adapted from a clasp. Scratches to the metal consistent with age and normal use. Pin in good working order, sliding safety catch. Overall in good condition. Length approximately 45mm. Gross weight approximately 16.9 grams.
