SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND BROOCH

Of foliate design, set with an oval and cushion-shaped sapphire and rose diamonds, one diamond deficient. 

Accompanied by GCS report no. 77120-61, stating that the cushion cut sapphires weighing approximately 4.6 and 5.8 carats and measuring approximately 9.5 x 8.2 x 6.3mm and 10.4 x 10.2 x 6.0mm, are of Ceylon (Sri Lankan) origin, with no indications of heating. Sapphires light violet blue, transparent, typical eye visible surface reaching inclusions, a few fractures and small cavities, surface scratches and rubbed facet edges, a few chips. Diamonds bright and lively, one diamond deficient. Surface scratches to metal surfaces and discolouration consistent with age and wear. Brooch fitting with play, slightly loose, closes securely. Overall condition commensurate with age and wear. Length approximately 54 x 24mm. Gross weight approximately 9.0 grams.
