Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The edges of the sheet are deckled. There is light evidence of handling along the edges of the sheet, including creasing at the lower right and left corners and along the top edge towards the left, a partially repaired tear along the lower right edge, center of the right edge and center of the top edge. A vertical line of faint discoloration is visible along the right edge. The colors are bright and fresh. Under very close inspection, some very faint cracking to the thickly painted areas is visible and a few minor pinpoint spots of loss are visible. Also under very close inspection, several abrasions are visible: a diagonal one in the upper right corner, a few scattered in the center and one in the semicircle in the upper right which has removed some of the paint, most of which appear inherent to the artist’s intent and working method. The sheet is hinged verso to mat along the top and side edges. Framed under Plexiglas.

"I'm an abstract painter not just for myself, but because I really believe in abstraction. I think it's a very rich area. And it is upsetting that people seem to have some fear of it. I'm constantly making these statements about how you should just look at it and react to it on your own; just relax and let go."
