Those who follow the development of my work and read my writings know that “Vasarely exhibitions” will become gradually rarer. … New tasks await me. I am not joking: “Painting is dead, long live plasticity!” however, the artist I am will slowly yield his place to founder- researchers of an officially recognized non-profit organization whose task will be to build and embellish the Polychrome City of Happiness. This said how to forget what the “Plat-Pays” represented for me. From Brussels to Knokke, from Courtrai – via La Louvière – to Liege. Beginning in 1954 at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, a lump in my throat, I immediately encountered so much friendly warmth, praise and rewards, that I feel eternally fulfilled. Good bye then and see you soon under the Aix-en-Provence sunshine. …
