Condition
There are scattered spots of foxing and discoloration throughout, visible upon close inspection. Minor undulations are also present across the surface. There appears to be a water stain running along the edge of the work. This watercolour is in overall good condition, as viewed. The colours are brighter in reality.

Krishna Reddy was renowned for his revolutionary printing technique. He layered colours on the printing plate so that they were superimposed, whilst their different viscosities would naturally cause them to separate. This process achieved harmonious and delicate compositions, in which subtle and elegant lines intersected and interconnected. The effects of this technique are likewise visible in this beautiful watercolour and ink study, produced by Reddy in 1963. Through his exceptional use of colour and line, Reddy is able to create a captivating forest scene. Subtle greens bleed into each another behind a tangle of black lines, lines which illustrate a pronounced calligraphic influence. This graceful experiment in watercolour and ink is an example of Reddy’s oeuvre which rarely comes to auction.
