Condition
Overall very good condition. The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by the Comité Giacometti and it is recorded in the Alberto Giacometti database under number AGD4038; the lamp was additionally impressed AG 044 by the Comité at the time of its authentication. The bronze surfaces throughout present with scattered minor surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and gentle handling. The bronze with some occasional minor surface irregularities inherent in the making and not visually detractive. The gilding appears original and presents with some light wear consistent with age and has darkened throughout with time. The gilding presents with a warm golden umber tone as seen in the catalogue illustration, with stronger traces of gilding visible in the recessed portions of the design. The base with two very small black discolorations: one on the square post just above the top of the head, and one on the bridge of the nose. The shade is in very good condition with minor scattered discolorations concentrated to the upper and lower edges. The shade with a couple of extremely minor tears which are stable and not visually detractive. The shade with a small drop of dried clear adhesive at mid-height, not visually detractive. The shade with some gentle surface undulation likely resulting from its woven construction. The glass diffuser with a small chip to the upper edge.
