Condition
Condition: This work is in very good condition. Upon closer inspection, some faint surface imperfection, most probably due to the stretcher hitting the canvas. Some very light circular craqulerue to the upper left area. Some faint and scattered watermarks across the black background. Colours: The colour in the catalogue illustration is accurate, however it fails to convey the light calligraphic text on the black background.

"Narrational (representational) images do not mean much in painting. Accordingly, descriptive poetry, whether classical or modern, appears as a material that results in works of decorative value, and as such reflected a literary meaning for a work of art... The unique value of any visual work is to be totally independent of the subject that inspired it. Liberating painting from representation was advocated by those painters [Dia Al- Azzawi, Rafa Al-Nasiri and Hashim Samarchi] whose concern was to express the truth of reading, not seeing". Zahir Ghanim, Dia Azzawi Draws the Poetry of Poets, Funon Magazine, Baghdad, 1992.
