The incense burner is in good condition with typical light pitting and faint fritting. There is a minute nick to one minute nick to one handle.

此三足爐，器形雍雅大方，誠御製料器中之罕品。北京紫禁城玻璃作匠人，採三範模具，以乳足為分界，吹製仿雄黃料，接口痕跡，經仔細打磨，平滑如絲，若非紋理稍異，難辨分範。

乾隆年間，嘗以各色玻璃仿製雄黃，其攪料色彩斑紋自然悅目，在料器中，一枝獨秀。莫士撝及曾柱昭於《文房萃珍》中就一仿雄黃料紙搥瓶上之漩渦，指其紋理抽象，解讀不一，或是山水長卷，或是煙霧彌漫，或是異獸珍禽，萬千可能，層出不窮，彷彿呼應道家焚香引思之理，香港，1986年，頁126。Richard John Lynn 在〈Technical aspects and connoisseurship of snuff bottles: Late traditional Chinese sources〉，《國際中國鼻煙壺協會學術期刊》，1995年夏，頁8中指仿雄黃料或為造辦處玻璃作最早生產之料器之一。晚清鑑賞家指雄黃料乃以黃料隨意摻合所成。有指御製仿雄黃料之製作早見於十八世紀初，但只宮內有，歷經數代也秘不外傳，更多相關討論，見莫士撝、Victor Graham 及曾嘉寶，《A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles. The Mary and George Bloch Collection》，卷5，香港，2000年，頁138-146。

Peter H. Plesch 教授伉儷舊藏一相類香爐，無款，以雄黃色為主調，散佈不規則斑紋，或偏綠、或近褐，初售於倫敦蘇富比1970年6月8日，編號38，後入水松石山房，再於香港蘇富比2010年10月8日拍出，編號2219。

公私收藏中且有其他器形之仿雄黃料皿，如北京故宮博物院清宮舊藏紙搥瓶，收錄於《光凝秋水：清宮造辦處玻璃器》，北京，2004年，圖版25。水松石山房另有紙搥瓶及盤，售於香港蘇富比2009年10月8日，編號1801及1819。Sloane 收藏四件仿雄黃料器，包括二盃一盌，且有一六瓣瓶，見於 Soame Jenyns，《Chinese Art. The Minor Arts II》，倫敦，1965年，圖版81，另載一仿雄黃料鼻煙壺，圖版201f。

其他色料器形相近之三足爐，例見水松石山房舊藏天藍料三足爐，售於香港蘇富比2010年10月8日，編號2193。Robert Hatfield Ellsworth 舊藏且有一例，見於 Claudia Brown 及 Donald Rabiner，《Clear as Crystal, Red as Flame》，紐約，1990年，圖版34。北京故宮博物院藏粉料戧金一套三式，其中之三足爐器形與此相近，刊於《光凝秋水》，前述出處，圖版118，同書另載天藍料三式，包括另一爐，圖版117。另有一黃料爐，展於《虹影瑤輝－李景勳藏清代玻璃》，香港中文大學文物館，香港，2000年，圖版54。
