趙無極初抵巴黎時，曾刻意迴避水墨的運用，以免落入傳統之窠臼，窒礙其個人突破；隨著旅法時間愈久，反而讓他重新擁抱中國傳統之精華，繼而審視與生俱來的文化基因，並決定回歸本源、重拾水墨。《無題2000》誕生之時，藝術家無論人生、成就、智慧俱臻絕頂，爐火純青的水墨技巧於飄逸的畫面上表露無遺。書畫從來相輔而成，繪畫因書法而渾厚，書法因繪畫而自由。濃淡墨彩的相互暈染，滲透著飄逸玄遠的東方心性。趙氏在西方抒情抽象繪畫的基調之上，繼承宋元文人畫尚虛靜，超塵俗的繪畫思想，畫面空間留白的美感，讓觀者神往於虛實之間，猶如傳統國畫煙霧迷濛的遠景背後，所蘊藏讓人心馳的無限哲思。
