the deep rounded sides rising from a slightly tapered foot to a flared rim, the exterior with two five-clawed dragons, the attenuated bodies and powerful limbs with scales deftly incised, reserved on the biscuit and covered with green enamel, striding through a finely incised ground of crested waves and rocks, with green-enameled single line borders encircling the rim and foot, the interior centered with a circular medallion enclosing a five-clawed dragon writhing among stylized clouds, with a single line border at the rim, the base with the six-character mark within a double ring in underglaze blue

御製綠彩龍紋盌，初始於成化年間，有帶款及無款、釉上龍紋及素胎龍紋之分。明中葉後，尤其弘治與正德年間此類盌較為多見，皆署款。此紋樣亦見於配碟等器。燒造時需兩次入窰：先刻紋於胎上，後罩釉，繼將龍紋處釉剔掉，施蠟，入窰，出窰時蠟必已溶盡，填綠彩，再以低溫燒製而成。此技法所呈紋飾立體感尤佳。
此紋飾以成化器為原型，可參考一成化釉上綠彩龍紋盤，現存台北國立故宮博物院，錄《成化瓷器特展圖錄》，台北，2003年，編號109，同見兩盌例，編號107及108，亦見兩素胎龍紋盌例，編號110及111。
至清一朝，此類綠彩龍紋器自康熙至光緒時皆有燒製，如見一例，署弘治仿款，現存北京故宮博物院，載《故宮博物院藏文物珍品大系·雜釉彩·素三彩》，出處同上，圖版75。
本盌尺寸甚大，北京故宮博物院收藏一件近例，錄於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品大系·雜釉彩·素三彩》 ， 上海，2009年，圖版70，同錄一弘治例，圖版69；另一件出自Alfred Aykroyd爵士收藏，售於倫敦蘇富比1966年5月17日，編號14，後再售於香港蘇富比1988年11月15日，編號158；第三例出自Anthony du Boulay收藏，售於倫敦邦瀚斯2003年11月10日，編號122，再售於倫敦蘇富比2013年5月15日，編號117。紐約大都會藝術博物館藏一件同紋飾盌，比本品稍小，載於S. Valenstein，《A Handbook of Chinese Ceramics》，紐約，1989年，圖版156；另一件來自大維德爵士收藏，現存大英博物館，倫敦，刊錄於Daisy Lion-Goldschmidt，《Ming Porcelain》，倫敦，1978年，圖版106。
