This present lot marks the precious memory from the descendant of the original owner - Mr Philip Seabrook.
Mr. Philip Seabrook was a pioneer and captain of the New Zealand post war motor car industry. He and fellow directors John Seabrook and Bill Fowlds formed Seabrook Fowlds Ltd in 1920 to import, assemble and distribute cars. The flagship franchise was Austin cars of England, which became a dominate brand for many decades due in part to its suitability to New Zealand’s primitive roads at the time. Mr. Philip Seabrook had a strong philosophy and focus on customer service that served the company and customers well. He was admired and respected by many for his savvy business skills, kindness and good humour. Mr. Philip Seabrook was an admirer of fine time pieces and journeyed himself to Patek Philippe, Geneva in 1959 to purchase a new Ref. 2526 personally. In many ways, the "double-baked" enamel dial Ref. 2526 represented the pioneering modern-era Patek Philippe watches. Mr. Philip Seabrook treasured the watch and wore it with tremendous pride.
