rising from a slightly splayed foot to a slightly flared mouth, the gently rounded sides finely painted with a broad band of a dense geometric pattern of cell diapers enclosing lotus sprays, spiky florets, leaf and lozenge motifs, tessellating to form star-shaped panels, framed above and below by foliate scroll bands, with borders of demi-flower heads at the foot and neck, the base with a six-character seal mark in underglaze blue
Condition
The body with a very fine star crack to the top center of one of the star-shaped panels (approx. 5 cm in height), and a fine vertical hairline (approx. 8 cm in length) to the center right of the same panel; both cleaned and barely visible. The copper-red evenly fired.

本品罐，存世極罕，見其紋飾精巧入微，釉色紅豔，延續前朝經典，反映乾隆年間江西景德鎮御窰技術之精湛。銅紅嬌溫，自早明以降幾盡棄用，於康熙一朝復興，至乾隆年間，紋飾愈見繁縟，工藝越臻精善，已可用細筆勾畫作飾。
本品紋飾器形，追溯永樂，永樂器靈感，則源自中東。錦紋構圖，以同心圓格局層層遞進，必精密安排，反覆思量，又因非繪於平面之上，則難度更高。此紋飾應源自中東平面圖案，可參考一十四世紀伊朗可蘭經，見康蕊君，《Chinese Art from the Reach Family Collection》，Eskenazi，倫敦，1989年，頁11，圖7。關於此類永樂例，可見一青花奘罐，藏北京故宮博物院，圖載《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集·青花釉裏紅（上）》，香港，2008年，圖版43。
乾隆作例，多飾青花，上海博物館收藏一例，圖見陸明華，《清代雍正-宣統官窯瓷器》，上海，2014年，圖版4-11（左）；另一例現藏於杭州土火齋古陶瓷博物館，曾展於《御瓷遺珍》，浙江省博物館，杭州，2011年，頁102。再比一例，出自仇焱之雅藏，售於香港蘇富比1994年5月3日，編號173；另有一對例，售於倫敦蘇富比1999年6月16日，編號798。
