This very rare vase has three cracks from firing imperfections to the footring (circa 6, 7 and 11cm.) with associated light glaze crackle extending circa 6-7cm., up the body, and a circa 7cm., glaze hairline to the base, otherwise the vase is in very good condition.

本玉壺春瓶典雅秀麗，珍稀難得，實屬乾隆年代浮雕瓷器佳作。壺身罩施仿定白釉，創思取自宋代定窰。本瓶荷花紋飾鮮明奪目，極具立體感，荷花及卷葉紋飾刻畫精巧，仔細近觀，意趣盎然。

清代白瓷可分三類：傳統高溫白瓷，飾透明釉，始燒於明永樂年間，白瓷多屬此類；軟瓷，色呈象牙白；其三為仿定器，較定窰瓷器窰燒溫度更高（見展覽圖錄《暫得樓清代官窰單色瓷器》，香港，2005年，頁82）。據檔案記載，部份仿定瓷器按宋代定窰瓷器釉色、器形及尺寸全盤仿傚，部份則取個別元素，推陳出新（前述出處，頁80）。

此類白釉品，配料特殊，清之瓷匠，革技創新，着滑石以代高嶺，弱火溫，避變形，所出之釉凝白如脂，可做新瓷，可仿定器。

此類器包括各式器形紋飾；比較一例，器身圓潤，乾隆印款，帶四耳，飾花卉紋，載於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．單色釉》，香港，1999年，圖版239。臺北故宮博物院收藏一石榴式瓶例，刻纏枝蓮紋、蝙蝠等紋飾，曾展於《清代單色釉瓷器特展》，臺北，1981年，編號64。另可參考數例，刻款，其一為鹿耳盤口瓶，瓶身刻鶴壽延年圖，出自Joseph及Donna Lee Boggs博士伉儷收藏，售於倫敦蘇富比2012年11月7日，編號110；另一例飾一路連科紋飾，售於香港佳士得2012年11月28日，編號2129；再比一例，仿古壺器形，刻雙鳳紋，曾展於《明清一色釉瓷》，香港藝術館，香港，1977年，編號141；此外尚可比較一例，雕雲龍戲珠紋撇口瓶，售於香港蘇富比2017年10月3日，編號3603。L. Allen Lewis，J. Pierpont Morgan及Marsten J. Perry亦曾收藏一例，飾蓮池紋飾，售於倫敦佳士得1974年6月24及25日，編號108，後易手於1990年6月11日，編號217；倫敦蘇富比亦曾售一梅瓶例，飾浮雕蝙蝠、壽桃及壽字紋，出自仇焱之收藏，售於1981年5月19日，編號518，後易手於2008年4月11日，編號2507。 荷花（或蓮花）紋飾，寓意吉祥，反映乾隆帝支持佛教。佛教以蓮代表純凈無暇，出淤泥而不染，具療效，並寄和諧、夏季、長壽、高潔、典雅等意，與待放花苞並置，則喻婚姻，亦祝後代繁衍。八片花瓣，代表佛陀所示八正道，而觀音手持蓮花，則寓意平安。本器施白釉，乃取白色聖潔之意。
