The enamels are well preserved, with just tiny characteristic flakes to the enamel, especially the overfired blue enamel. Several of these have been sympathetically retouched. There is also retouching to a haircrack which extends vertically approximately 2/3 of the vase, and another small area of retouching to the rim, probably covering a shallow flake. Other minor scratching and surface wear, especially to the tips of the handles.

壺身飾山水幻景，如畫卷環繞其中，鮮見於清代瓷品。紋飾連延綿長，繪於圓潤器壁，尤重藝匠精湛筆法，講究構圖技巧。見一近例，繪山景圖，側配相類仿古夔龍紋耳，或與本品成對，梅澤紀念館藏，東京，載於《日本繭山龍泉堂七十年》，卷1，東京，1976年，圖版1071，展於《清朝陶磁》，MOA 美術館，熱海，1984年，編號17。

壺飾壯麗山景，亭臺屹立，草木繽紛，岩壁高聳，水天一色，應出自景德鎮督陶官唐英手筆。凡唐英鈐印圖款，或由其親繪器上，或由瓷匠按其畫作精工描移，成例見於乾隆之初。此圖上承清初盛行之四王正統畫風。唐英早年亦隨四家之一王原祁習畫。

相類乾隆初年山水圖壺，見一燈籠瓶例，附唐英題款，Charles Russell 舊藏，兩度售於倫敦蘇富比，1946年6月25日，編號79，1988年11月15日，編號52，期間入 Paul and Helen Bernat 伉儷收藏，後再售於香港佳士得2001年4月29日，編號516，載於林業強，〈Tang Ying (1682-1756). The Imperial Factory Superintendent at Jingdezhen〉，《東方陶瓷學會彙刊》，卷63，1988-89年，頁73，圖8，對照一北京故宮藏唐英山水畫，圖9，另載於朱湯生，《莊紹綏收藏中國瓷器》，香港，2009年，圖版101。一略小燈籠瓶，同繪山水及題詩，清乾隆丁卯年製，無唐英鈐印，Robert C. Bruce 及 H.M. Knight 舊藏，展於東方陶瓷學會《The Arts of the Ch’ing Dynasty》，The Arts Council Gallery，倫敦，1964年，編號215。另一無款稍大例，倫敦大英博物館藏，載於 Soame Jenyns，《Later Chinese Porcelain. The Ch’ing Dynasty (1644-1912)》，倫敦，1951年，圖版XCIII，圖1。

器身山景質樸宜人，栩栩如生，廣受皇室成員、文人菁英鍾愛賞玩，以釋朝職重擔。除瓷瓶之外，山水之圖亦見於各類形制，如筆筒、瓷盤，取玉石、木材及犀角等珍貴材質而製，自乾隆一朝日漸盛行，其後糅合錦上添花之技，更如畫卷邊飾，戴潤齋藏一對佳例，售於香港蘇富比2010年10月7日，編號2130。

類似礬紅彩螭龍耳大尊，較常見飾百鹿，一例藏於上海博物館，載於《中國陶瓷全集》，上海，1999年，卷15，圖版17，並載圖於書套。另見一例，清宮舊藏，仍存於北京故宮，載於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．琺瑯彩、粉彩》，香港，1999年，圖版85。再有一例，見於本拍賣，拍品編號3625。
