As shown, the torso is slightly weathered, and the back has a fine crackle visible in the catalogue illustration (p. 48).

木底座有日本木材藝術家稲垣吉蔵（1876-1951年）印章標記。稻垣氏所製底座每件都是獨立的藝術品，因其與雕像完美契合，天衣無縫。此作不僅有知名木材藝術家的標記（印有其藝名「Yoshio」），稲垣氏製底座都曾經於1911-51年出現於巴黎市場。二十世紀初在巴黎為約瑟夫·布朗莫工作期間，稲垣氏與重要藝術品商家、藏家與先鋒藝術家建立了密切關係，得到豐厚佣金。比如奧古斯特·羅丹便委託稻垣氏在1912年為其收藏內所有古董打造底座。稻垣氏也在為亞伯特·巴恩斯多數雕塑製造底座時，與迪克蘭·可汗·科勒吉安、查爾斯·拉東及保羅·紀尧姆等藝術品商家密切合作。
小約翰·戴維森·洛克菲勒的私人建築師威廉·威爾斯·鮑斯沃斯曾負責設計洛克菲勒莊園以及馬薩諸塞州劍橋市麻省理工校園內大部分建築。鮑斯沃斯在美國有不少亮眼作品，但他在法國知名度更高，其在洛克菲勒資助下，在凡爾賽宮與蘭斯主教座堂進行修復工作，因此獲授榮譽軍團勳章及法國藝術與文學勛章「司令勛位」，是為數不多獲此殊榮的美國人之一。
1936年項目結束後，鮑斯沃斯與家人繼續留居法國，開始著手於沃克雷松建造瑪麗埃塔別墅，最終成為母校法國美術學院的準會員，他早年便是在此開始自己的建築學業。
阿佛洛狄蒂在希臘神話中是主要代表愛情、美麗、慾望與永葆青春的女神，也被尊奉為航海者的保護神與戰神。同其他希臘諸神一樣，關於阿佛洛狄蒂的誕生有多種傳說。「aphros」在希臘語中意為「泡沫」，根據赫西俄德的《神譜》，天神烏拉諾斯之子克洛諾斯將父親的陽具割下並拋至海裡，周圍泛起了很多泡沫，阿佛洛狄蒂便誕生於這泡沫中。
