Condition
Overall in good condition. There is a slight 3 mm indentation of the paper at image lower left which is per the artist's intention. Minor foxing is evident on the paper mounting only, which can be improved with restoration. Overall framed dimensions: 152 by 86.6 cm; 59⅞ by 34⅛ in.

彭劍是杭州市中國美術學院國畫系的畢業生。作為學院出身的年輕畫家，他在作品中運用宋朝盛行的界畫畫法，即以界尺引線來繪畫建築的畫法。彭劍亦被日本傳統浮世繪版畫深深吸引，採用濃豔的原色來描繪書堆、隱藏盒子及未完成的魔術方塊。兒子出生後，彭劍為了自己對秩序意識及知識來源的探索，開始經常圍繞這些題材創作。《紅書》是藝術家筆下精細構圖的典例，利用現代生活的靜物主題比擬為智慧的積累與權力象徵。
