delicately potted with a pear-shaped body rising from a short splayed foot to a waisted neck and elegantly sweeping up to an upturned everted rim, covered overall in a soft blue-tinged celadon glaze stopping neatly at the foot

The footrim has a narrow restored flake of approx. 1.5 cm. The vase is otherwise in overall good condition with a minute glaze flake and minor glaze wear to the mouth.

Another rare Longquan celadon vase from the Carl Kempe collection, inspired by guan prototypes and probably made for the Court, illustrated in Bo Gyllensvard, Chinese Ceramics in the Carl Kempe Collection, Stockholm, 1964, pls 97, 71 and 184, was sold in our London rooms, 5th November 2008, lot 544.
