西漢 玉豚一對

The carvings are in good condition with expected calcified areas as visible in the he catalogue photo. There is a bruise to the leg of the left carving and minute shallow nicks to the edges of both, with possible light areas of polish, including the underside of the left carving.

兩漢至六朝多作玉豕，棱角明暢，臥伏而陳，為日用及隨葬玉作之大類。此類玉豕以寥寥數刀深刻而成，其技謂為“漢八刀”，長鼻下有兩孔，通至尾脊，或止於尾上，有如此對。玉豕之用猶待推敲，然墓葬出土見例浩繁，此物多持於墓主人手中。

漢墓所出相類玉豕者，可比江蘇邗江寶女墩104號墓出土一對作例，圖見《中國出土玉器全集》，北京，2005年，卷7，圖版141；又比一例，陝西華陰油巷新村出土，錄《中國出土玉器全集》，前述出處，卷14，圖版170，前頁另載一對例，陝西西安北郊出土，圖版169，及西安紅廟坡出土一例，圖版168；仍見一例，安徽亳州东源1號墓出土，前述出處，卷6，圖版153。再比私人珍藏玉豕作例，有養德堂及表德軒雅蓄六對，錄《羣玉別藏》，國立故宮博物院，台北，1995年，編號84-86及88-90；另有北山堂藏玉豕例，見敏求精舍展覽圖錄《中國玉雕》，香港藝術館，香港，1983年，編號121；又一例，載展覽圖錄《Chinese Jades from Han to Ch’ing》，Asia House Gallery，紐約，1980年，編號15；仍有一例，維多利亞與艾伯特博物館寶藏，倫敦，錄 Ming Wilson，《中國玉器》，倫敦，2004，圖版73。
