清康熙 豇豆紅釉暗團龍紋太白尊 《大清康熙年製》款

finely potted of classic domed 'taibai zun' form, the slightly tapering sides rising to a rounded shoulder and short waisted neck below a lipped mouth-rim, the exterior evenly applied overall save for the rim and base with a crimson-red glaze suffused with pink sprinkles imitating the skin of a ripening peach, the body further faintly incised with three stylised archaistic dragon roundels, the recessed white base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark in three columns

The peachbloom glaze is of exceptionally rich colour. The mouth rim has a faint hairline with another associated line, barely visible with the naked eye. There are also some original firing imperfections including a few underglazed short firing hairlines to the foot.

如此太白尊，燒製臻絕，紅釉發色勻實鮮亮，誠難得佳品。因銅紅屬性不穩，豇豆紅釉麗色難求，為文房八大碼專屬，乃康熙朝組瓷之經典。

明初以降，銅紅色釉便無工匠問津，直至康熙年間方見復燒，並有所成。據林業強等學者近年研究，豇豆紅釉器製於康熙初年臧應選督造期間。1681年，臧應選調至景德鎮督導窰廠重建並任督陶官。為駕馭銅紅呈色，相信藝匠先以透明釉作底，以竹管吹釉，最後再次罩釉燒成。

可比較北京故宮博物院藏太白尊例，載於《故宮珍藏康雍乾瓷器圖錄》，香港，1989年，142頁，圖版125。再見一藏於上海博物館之例，刊於汪慶正編，《上海博物館藏康熙瓷圖錄》，香港，1998年，圖版206。又一例，原屬大維德爵士雅蓄，現存倫敦大英博物館，錄於 Margaret Medley，《Ming and Qing Monochrome Wares in the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art》，倫敦，1989年，圖版580。還有一例，略小，為紐約大都會藝術博物館藏，見 Suzanne G. Valenstein，《A Handbook of Chinese Ceramics》，紐約，1989年，圖版234。

此類水丞稱太白尊，依唐朝詩仙李太白之字得名。太白常倚酒埕，有瓷塑摹詩仙手舉酒盃、閉目而坐之態，錄於《故宮珍藏康雍乾瓷器圖錄》，前述出處，頁106，圖版89。此器亦稱雞罩尊，因形似雞罩得名。

Dudley L. Pickman（1779-1848年）為麻薩諸塞州塞勒姆市一所重要貿易公司之創辦人，坐擁飛剪船艦隊，業務及至遠東。Charles G. Loring 將軍（1828-1902年）則乃波士頓美術館首任館長， 1876年開館以來執事，至1902年榮退。
