naturalistically worked in the form of a quail perched atop a base modelled in openwork as undulating leafy stems bearing lingzhi blooms, the bird depicted with its head lowered and grasping a millet stem in its beak, the body finely and densely detailed with grooved lines simulating plumage, the white stone accentuated with variegated russet-brown patches

The figure is in overall good condition with just minute nicks to the extremities, including the tip of its beak and the edges of the leaves. An attendent leaf to one lingzhi bloom at the base may have been chipped and lightly polished. The catalogue illustration is slightly redder than the actual colour of the stone.

鵪鶉白玉質，局部沁斑，立體圓雕鵪鶉銜穗。鵪鶉雙足臥於腹下，口線銜麥穗，枝葉盤底。

此器雕琢刀工精湛，翅膀羽毛刻畫細膩，鵪鶉栩栩如生，為把玩於掌中之玲瓏妙品。
