The figure is in overall good condition. There are minute nibblings to the fragile extremities, including the edges of one hoof. A section of the left front leg has possibly been lightly polished to conceal an earlier nick. There is also light pitting to the stone.

青白玉質，局部褐斑，立體圓雕。馬曲體側臥，馬嘴寬大，鼻梁挺直。身體修長，頸部六股鬃毛，背脊起棱，長尾翻捲。

此器雕琢簡樸，造型自然逼真，表情溫順，毛髮刻畫細膩，堪為佳品。

古人愛馬，帝王中不少更愛馬成癖，文人雅士喜將馬入畫或作工藝品之紋飾，玉馬更盛一時，是文人書案佳物或隨身妙品。
