the globular body raised on a tall waisted pedestal foot and rising to a long slender neck flaring at the bulbous mouth, the body divided into sections by seven horizontal fillets, the shoulders set with the head of a dragon with a 'C'-shaped square-sectioned handle issuing from its mouth, opposite a curved upright spout extending up from the mouth of a mythical beast, the olive-green bronze surface randomly splashed with large patches of gold, with gold further liberally applied to the handle, spout and mouth, the underside incised with a four-character seal mark Qianlong nianzhi

Condition
The kendi is in overall good condition with a small square repair to the cast on the base, probably original. There is also some light wear to the gilding in areas and a few minute dents or nicks to the surface, particularly on the rim and shoulder, all consistent with its type.

此灑金銅軍持，乃大型宴席銅酒器的縮小版本，應是專為皇帝清賞把玩以特製，誠乾隆朝之仿古精品。
此類梨形、長頸、曲柄銅壺風格深受七世紀中東壺型的影響。例見載於《Islamic Metalwork. The Nuhad Es-Said Collection》，倫敦，1999年，圖版6的勿斯離（Mosul，現伊拉克摩蘇爾市）壺。此類壺形經中西貿易交流傳入中國，中原工匠後廣以瓷、銅、漆仿之。
清代軍持造型亦受明代前例之影響，試比較香港蘇富比2005年10月23日售出的大型明朝鎏金銅龍柄帶蓋執壼（編號404）及倫敦佳士得1987年12月16日售出之鎏金銅執壺。另見一長頸執壺，乃 Clague 舊藏，展於《China's Renaissance in Bronze》，鳳凰城，1993年，編號26。倫敦蘇富比2003年11月12日亦曾賣出一長流無柄，壺頸飾多道弦紋的明代銅壺（編號117）。
