The agate screen is in overall good condition. There is some expected nibbling to the edges, with some corners polished down, likely to conceal nicks. The wooden stand is in overall good condition with some typical minute nicks and light surface wear.

Although figured agate was widely used for snuff bottles and pendants, miniature table screens made of agate are very rare. The attractive natural inclusions of the agate, invoke here the abstract images produced in Dali marble 'stone paintings' (huashi), and make this piece special.
