是次拍賣會上呈獻的《夢中山》（拍品編號510）與《孑然一身》（拍品編號583）瀰漫如夢似幻的氣氛，來自高行健的內心潛意識：「我的夢常常是黑白的，所以反映在畫作上……在這一幅幽靈般迷幻的心靈畫作中，沒有清晰的空間概念，色調與色彩也模糊不清，難以捉摸，黑白的圖像懸浮不定：一切都在旋轉變化。」1
《孓然一身》（拍品編號583）中描繪的孤單主角反覆在高行健的畫作中出現。他可能是一位傳統中式學究、道長、和尚，或是三位一體。這一形象體現了孤單、平和與沉思的情感，是孤獨的標誌。藝術家強調自己很少描繪真實的人體，而只畫影子與輪廓。此作中的人物，與其和作品間的關係都反映出藝術家獨特的美學理念。用高行健自己的話來說：「在具象與抽象之間的這種曖昧性，恰恰掩蓋了一扇隱蔽的大門，一旦打開，幽深而不可測 。」2
