「無論是水墨創作還是書法創作，以如此少的材料以及如此直接的符號，要創造出真正偉大的藝術作品，對於人的要求很高，對於藝術家精神狀態的要求異常高，水墨從來不僅僅是材質與工夫，而是對注意力的要求，因為注意力是靈魂的天然祈禱，需要人的投入度。需要把心性集中在作品上，反覆凝視那些古來的法帖，我之所以能夠反向重構，從黑墨之中看出空白，以此空白重構新的書寫形式，也是來自於那種虛淡的看視方式，對人世間一切抱有從容淡然的態度，而對於藝術本身卻全身心投入，這種虛淡的情懷，以及對於視覺的絕對注意力的反覆陶冶，可能是一種新的心性吧。」1
