「無論是水墨創作還是書法創作,以如此少的材料以及如此直接的符號,要創造出真正偉大的藝術作品,對於人的要求很高,對於藝術家精神狀態的要求異常高,水墨從來不僅僅是材質與工夫,而是對注意力的要求,因為注意力是靈魂的天然祈禱,需要人的投入度。需要把心性集中在作品上,反覆凝視那些古來的法帖,我之所以能夠反向重構,從黑墨之中看出空白,以此空白重構新的書寫形式,也是來自於那種虛淡的看視方式,對人世間一切抱有從容淡然的態度,而對於藝術本身卻全身心投入,這種虛淡的情懷,以及對於視覺的絕對注意力的反覆陶冶,可能是一種新的心性吧。」1
