黃永砯是國際知名的概念藝術家，經常透過作品挑戰藝術常規和文化價值觀。《翻過來的墳墓》（拍品編號555）描繪一件同名裝置藝術，此作在1994年於荷蘭克勒·米勒博物館展出，將博物館比喻為墳墓，而策展人是盜墓者。他故意將這件充滿挑撥意味的作品置於博物館的中國古代文物展覽廳後，讓這件當代作品與館內的古物形成對比。

黃永砯生於福建廈門，1982年畢業於浙江美術學院，1989年移居巴黎。他憑著超前衛創作蜚聲國際。他是廈門達達藝術派的領軍人物，認為達達主義和佛教禪宗有相通之處，因此創作出一系列概念作品。他們曾經舉辦探討空虛、虛無和機遇的展覽，震撼當年的藝術界，更影響中國往後三十餘年的前衛藝術運動發展。

黃永砯的作品曾在奧地利、中國、英國、德國、香港、意大利、日本、韓國、盧森堡、荷蘭、葡萄牙、南非、台灣、美國、瑞士展出，更獲多個機構收藏，包括尤倫斯基金會、M+希克藏品、現代藝術博物館、盧貝爾家族收藏、沃克藝術中心。
