靳棣強的書法山水畫作將傳統中國文化與現代繪畫融匯貫通。《合一》（拍品編號542）與《坐看雲起》（拍品編號569）中呈現出的負空間及水墨表達技巧，歸功於影響中國畫家千百年的道家理念。靳棣強是一位香港藝術家，在英國殖民時期受現代藝術理論影響，接受多種藝術與設計教育，積極參與新水墨藝術運動，因此被譽為香港最為多元並具代表性的藝術家之一。

靳棣強出生於廣州，1957年移居香港，做了十年的裁縫之後，從1966年起跟隨王無邪學習平面設計（見514號拍品），後參加香港著名創新現代水墨藝術家呂壽琨舉辦的藝術講座。投身藝術設計前，靳氏從未接受過正規水墨訓練。1970年，他參加了呂壽琨成立的「一畫會」，這一先鋒藝術協會旨在通過水墨改革的方式建立獨一無二的香港藝術身份。

靳棣強於1970年代參與香港新水墨藝術運動，成就受到廣泛認可，他至今仍然活躍在藝術與設計教育領域。其作品現藏於知名私人收藏與公共機構，包括廣東美術館、澳門藝術博物館、明尼蘇達州明尼亞波利斯美術館、台灣省立美術館、香港藝術館及香港文化博物館等。
