Condition

This work is in good overall condition as viewed. There is some very light wear and losses at the edges and corners of the work, but this does not affect the overall image. There is some very light cracking to the pigments at areas of very thick impasto, but this is consistent with the age of the work and only visible upon very close inspection. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals few very minor spots of restoration at the edges and surface of the work. Framed.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

拍品資料及來源

"As time and experience accentuate Srihadi's intuitive, meditative perception of reality, the theme of cosmic oneness becomes apparent in all of his works, and his artistic expression turns increasingly minimalist. The sky and sea of the horizon landscapes are reduced to colored lines...the external themes disappear beneath the formal method of treatment until all reference to reality disappears. The painting hovers on the edge between figuration and abstraction. One of Srihadi's most remarkable achievements is his ability to conciliate the logic of form—including color, which leads to abstraction— with that of content, which leads to figurative symbolism, which results in a meditative mood that expresses the artist's yearning for oneness."
