濃郁的土地情感與傳統儒家倫理觀

朱銘雖然在1976年開始投入太極系列的探索，但他仍未完全放棄鄉土題材這條支線，如其所言「鄉土是他的根」，完成於 1991年的《全家福》 （拍品編號1030）即為其90年代回歸鄉土的箇中代表作。在此，他大膽地一反民間工藝品強調物體精緻光滑的處理原則，刻意在公雞與母雞的主體形貌上留下了大量的刻鑿、劈剖、刨切的痕跡，木頭纖維的紋理也被自然地保留了下來。朱銘的下刀比早期更加自信，快刀下，將公雞雄赳赳、氣昂昂，翹起尾巴，眼神銳利，母雞圓潤的體態若一個包容的母親形象完美的刻劃，而在母雞的肩上與翅膀下更有多隻小雞正被細心呵護著，從小雞的嬉戲間，親子的感情自然流洩。朱銘特意將動物擬人化，傳遞傳統儒家的家庭倫理觀。作品如同藝評家蔣勳所言：「傳達了一種如土地一般可親的情感，這裡面沒有英雄的倨傲，沒有天才的不馴，而是無限的謙和、廣大和勤奮」而圍繞其間的和諧生氣，特別扣人心弦。
