以油畫之彩鑄融傳統書畫精粹

出身書香世家的朱德群,從小便接受堅實的傳統書法訓練,從柳公權的楷書到王羲之的草書,對他來說都不陌生,除練書法外,並雅好中國文學,在唐詩與宋詞上均有所鑽研。他在1955年赴法,當時法國盛行抽象表現主義,許多西方藝術家如蘇拉吉(Pierre Soulages)、米修(Henri Michaux)並從東方哲學與書法中尋求靈感,來自中國的朱德群與他們身處相同的環境,對於書法藝術的美學,有更深層的理解與感悟,便自然地將它運用到抽象繪畫的表現中,開創了極富個人特色的作品。在60年代初期,他偏愛用藍黑色濃重的油彩,以半厚塗的筆法營造畫面,體現於1968年的《構圖第285號》,他以不同明度的藍彩為底,當中寬窄、厚薄互異的墨黑線條由左至右縱橫捭闔,書法筆墨裡的俯仰、頓挫、勾納化為油彩,施展出一幅壯闊、極具結構性與生氣的構圖,譜出如交響曲般的激昂樂音。強勁的線條與色塊的律動在空間中相互撞擊,迸發出多重的能量。而當中若寶石般的黃彩,畫龍點睛地燃起一抹光亮,製造了戲劇性的張力。其作品看似抽象,但如朱德群所言,他實際上描繪的是自然,他將俯仰自然山水間所得的感悟化為色彩與線條,畫境令人聯想到宋代詩人蘇軾漫遊西湖時所提的詩句:「水光瀲灩晴方好,山色空濛雨亦奇。」水天一色,令人神往。
