《木蘭從軍》（拍品編號5066）和《百萬軍中藏阿斗》（拍品編號5067），體現出均丁衍庸七〇年代初的風格，藝術家成熟地運用洋彩，與水墨綫條有機結合，《木蘭從軍》中的花木蘭手扶腰間寶劍，右側兩位士兵對其之仰視，細品之下，兩位士兵作英國儀仗兵之打扮，有穿越時空之幽默，又能突出木蘭之超然與莊嚴。《百萬軍中藏阿斗》的構圖主要以塊面組成，大小不同的塊面，構成人體，運用了合理的誇張和藝術化，趙雲左手持劍，右手持槍，身後背一孩童卻探頭偷看前方，畫面極富動感。丁公醉心京劇主題，旨在發揚傳統精神，兩幅作品均以表揚態度呈現代父從軍的花木蘭，與及單騎救主的趙子龍，兩幅水墨淋漓氤氳，輕快流暢，深得洋彩之妙；但線條上，始終沒有脫離傳統用筆，這也是丁公新水墨探索的核心。
