此箱子採用獨板黃花梨木，用明榫接合而成，全身光素。黃花梨木紋生動細緻，色澤溫潤。內裏活動屜盤保存良好，十分難得，用途應是儲存珍貴物品如印章等。

明尼阿波利斯藝術博物館收藏一具十分相似的小方箱，但內裏缺屜盤，載錄於羅伯特．雅各布遜及尼古拉斯．格林利，《明尼阿波利斯藝術博物館藏中國古典家具》，明尼阿波利斯，1999年，頁207。
