Reference 3525 was one of Rolex's earliest Oyster cased chronographs and remains amongst the most popular with collectors. It represents an important moment in history as it is the model Hans Wildorf sent to English officers who were imprisoned during WWII. The model was produced in stainless steel, pink and yellow gold or bi-color steel and gold.
The present example bears the signature of the retailer Monetti in Naples, Italy. The dial is in exceptional condition with minor patina and otherwise untouched. The watch offers a rare opportunity for a collector to obtain an original early Oyster chronograph in excellent condition.
Production of reference 3525 was launched in 1939. Different versions in regard to case material and dial layout are illustrated in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 162-192.
