the deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to an everted rim, painted to the interior with a medallion enclosing an iron-red dragon chasing a flaming pearl above rich cobalt-blue foaming waves, the exterior with eight similar dragons chasing flaming pearls amidst ruyi clouds and fire scrolls and above foaming waves, the base inscribed in underglaze-blue with the six-character mark within a double circle
Condition
This large and impressive bowl has a slight warp; two areas of over-painting to the rim, one measuring circa 38cm wide by 6cm., deep on the exterior and circa 14cm deep on the interior, the other circa 15cm, wide by circa 12cm., deep, both possibly concealing rim frits/chips; the base has a circa 7cm., glaze hairline; the glaze has minor star-shaped crackles around the exterior just above the foot; minor firing imperfections include glaze pulls (particularly to the interior and base), iron spots, burst glaze bubbles and light glaze scratches.

青花礬紅趕珠水波雲龍紋可追溯至十五世紀初，北京故宮博物院現藏一大明宣德年製款盌，即屬此類，載於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集，青花釉里紅（上）》，上海，2000年，圖版230。
北京故宮博物院藏有一盌，與此品密切相關，載於《 故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集，青花釉里紅（中）》，上海，2000年，圖版228；另有一品，藏於台北故宮博物院，載於《故宮藏瓷明彩瓷》，香港，1966年，圖版8。上海博物館藏有一類似品，載於陸明華所著之《明代官窰瓷器》，上海，2007年，圖版1-61。另一盌例載於J. Ayers所著之《中國瓷器 考格收藏》，倫敦，1985年，圖版80。類似範例也曾於拍賣場上出售，倫敦蘇富比曾於1970年4月14日及1993年6月8日拍出兩例，編號分別為91及57。聖路易斯藝術博物館珍藏一例曾出售於紐約佳士得2005年3月30日，編號336。
