This coffer is in good condition, but there is some minor shrinkage and scratches to surface of the plank. The top 4cm of each of the drawers may be later repairs. There is an area of semi-circular discolouration/fading to each side and it is likely that these parts are made up from old door panels. There is a small repair to the bottom of the back left foot.

本品厚重古樸，又不失典雅，抱角、牙條與翹頭紋飾雕工精美絕倫，空靈通透。此類聯二櫥在中國被稱作悶戶櫥，是婦女存放化妝用品與首飾的地方，也是必備嫁妝之一。自明代起出現這種經典設計的櫥桌，十五世紀的《魯班經》便在木版畫中記載了一件類似家具，載於魯克思所著之<早期家具論，魯班經>，《中國家具，1984-1989年精選》，香港，1999年，第125頁，圖版2。

見一翹頭聯二櫥作例，惟抱角與牙條光素，原為華盛頓特區賽克勒博物館舊藏，售於紐約蘇富比2009年9月16日，編號22，；維多利亞與阿爾伯特博物館另藏一例，載於柯律格著《中國家具》，倫敦，1988年，第67頁；Gustav Ecke著之《中國家具》中另載一例，東京，1962年，第118頁。安思遠收藏尚有一例，平頭，載於《中國家具，明代及清代早期硬木典例》，紐約，1971年，第63頁，後於2015年3月18日在紐約佳士得售出，編號167。
