釋文：當其下筆逞豪俊。曾未有此奇嶙峋。
款識：叔平三兄精六法，結想常軼元四家，上必得如唐道元、宋元章，庶幾快意耳。明一代獨服膺龍友，次則文長，皆竒剏不可一世者。憶舊集永叔此二語，極似為叔平畫品作贊。故引似之，咸豐己未(1859)初冬，郘亭弟莫友芝。
鈐印：「莫友芝印」、「子偲」

注：上款「叔平」即張世準(1823-1891)，湖南永綏人，道光二十六年舉人，官刑部員外郎，工書善畫，乾濕互用，別具一格，曾與周少白齊名。莫氏在最後一次上京春試期間認識叔平，常有往來。此對聯亦收錄於《古今聯語彙選三集》，名《莫子偲先生贈永綏張叔平先生聯》，見同書，上海：上海商務印書館出版，1926，投贈一，第1頁。
