註：泉水貫流，滙合為素練，百丈飛垂，勢如凌空急瀉，穿越層巖，擊濺聲若鳴雷。飄飄霜葉，零散翔舞，似沿瀑泉而下，一勢急若奔騰，一輕緩如弱絮，輕重急緩，對比立現，思之巧，佈局之精，少昂雖鮮作山水，但本幅早歲所出，已臻此妙境矣！
究其構圖，頗見日本畫風之痕迹，亦或受高氏昆仲師承之影響。如簡氏「斑園」舊藏黎雄才三十年代中期之〈暮雲圖〉，取題、意境，與本幅甚類，惟稍偏重渲染而已。從中可窺見嶺南第二代畫風之淵源，同途而各自發展，日後均卓然成家。
