註：畫家於一九七七年自滬來港，携有部分作品，本幅即其一，乃五十年代所出，寫畢，未署名，待定居香港後，方補款印。他在七九年捐贈予上海中國畫院的一批作品，其中多幀五十年代之靜物，構圖及處理手法可與本幅互相參照，從中可証其創作年代。
畫中見瓶插菖蘭，置於几上，下舖地毯，處於房中，圍以牆壁，窗戶垂薄紗，光線透入，照亮牆沿一角。如此佈局，且透過光影明暗之處理，瓶花與周遭遠近之空間關係，清晰立見。他寫來胸有成竹，行筆疾速俐落，了無粘滯，狀物精準，用色潑辣鮮艷，如厚重油彩施於宣紙上，視覺效果濃烈奪目，極具藝術感染力，流露了畫家盛年創作之充沛生命力。
