Condition
The bowl is in overall good condition. There are occasional expected shallow nicks and tiny bruises to the rim and foot, the largest measuring 0.5 cm to the rim, as well as typical surface wear.

高古黃玉材料極罕，匠人為求充分運用玉料，連同玉皮琢作此盞，黃玉珍稀可見一斑。唐代以降，惟皇戚貴族能於重要場合使用玉製食器，宋文人周煇記載，徽宗嘗出玉盞、玉卮，曰：「欲用此於大宴，恐人以為太華。」（英譯見 Ming Wilson，《Chinese Jades》，倫敦，2004年，頁35）。
清宮舊藏一件形制相類玉盞，略大，現藏北京故宮，刊於《故宮博物院藏品大系：玉器編》，卷5：唐宋遼金元，北京，2011年，圖版70，同錄一件白玉盌，琢紋飾於內，圖版71；J.C. Thomson 珍藏一盌，口沿厚唇，現存倫敦維多利亞與艾伯特博物館，曾展出於東方陶瓷學會展覽，《Chinese Jade Throughout the Ages》，倫敦，1975年，編號274；巴斯東亞藝術博物館藏二件玉盌，盌壁較內歛，形呈渾圓，載錄於 Angus Forsyth 及 Brian McElney，《Jades from China》，巴斯，1994年，圖版249、251。比較安徽休寧南宋朱睎顏夫婦墓，出土一件撇口玉盌，刊於《中國出土玉器全集》，北京，2005年，卷6，圖版174。

玉盌深壁，圈足微撇，取材同時期金銀器與瓷器造形，參考彭州出土一件銀器，現藏彭州博物館，載於《宋韵－四川窖藏文物輯粹》，北京，2006年，圖版182；還有倫敦維多利亞與艾伯特博物館藏一件青白瓷盃，錄於《Qingbai Ware. Chinese Porcelain of the Song and Yuan Dynasties》，倫敦，2002年，圖版39。
