Overall in good condition. There is scattered foxing on the mounting, which can be improved with remounting. Overall hanging scroll dimensions: 202 by 70.5 cm; 79½ by 27¾ in.

秦劍銘，1942年生，江蘇武進人，1960年代新金陵畫派數一數二的重要代表人物。新金陵畫派為傅抱石、錢松喦、亞明、魏紫熙等南京畫家所創立的流派，當中數位更是秦劍銘1961至1965年間在江蘇省國畫院習畫時的教師。新金陵畫派在中華人民共和國建政不久後成立，不但繼承了明代先人傳統，更吸納現代寫實主義風格，以反映日常生活與社會發展的不同風貌。畫家走遍大江南北，描繪山水風景份外細緻，造就新金陵畫派成為二十世紀最影響深遠的藝術運動。秦氏為新金陵畫派第二代傳人，一方面跟隨先賢腳步，另一方面亦培養個人藝術風格。是次上拍作品為根據1979年秦氏遊歷太湖蠡園之經歷所作，當地以出產獨有的石灰岩而聞名，該等石灰岩正是供石或太湖石之來源。畫中以工筆細細描繪優美的園林景致，畫面呈淡雅藍色，為溽暑帶來一陣清涼，安定焦躁的心情。作品畫風寫實，空間具深度，亦頗有立體感，彷彿邀請觀眾走入園林，站在奇山趣石之前。秦氏作品為中國眾多重要的博物館及公立設施所收藏，當中包括中國美術館及人民大會堂。
