周綠雲所作「宇宙即吾心」系列深受南宋新儒家哲學家陸九淵（1139至1192年）提出的「宇宙便是吾心，吾心即是宇宙」的影響與啟發。本幅作品展現周氏內心對浩瀚宇宙的探索與理解，鮮豔大膽的用色與極具表現力的筆觸透著一股自信、有力且即興揮灑的自由。不同於其早期作品的憂鬱內斂，本幅「宇宙即吾心」所用的意象符號與抽象構圖盡顯周氏鮮明成熟的個人風格。於緞本作畫於周氏亦甚為少見，體現其對不同媒材的探究，以達到最佳的藝術表現效果。
