湯國，1955年生於江蘇無錫，1986至1989年間於南京藝術學院主修藝術、及在北京中央工藝美術學院研習裝訂技術。湯氏多才多藝，對不同媒材諸如繪畫、裝置藝術、影片等，均有涉獵。湯氏亦因熱愛攝影聞名，對細節之重視、對不同媒材之實驗態度，在作品中一覽無遺。是次上拍作品為《雲凌神峰紙岩系列》之其中一幅，有別於過去其他紙本或畫布作品，以色彩為藝術表達基本元素，此作品為單色的實驗作品，尤為不同凡響。此作品展現的畫風與技巧，使觀眾聯想到其他中國傳統手藝，諸如剪紙、篆刻，兩者均強調虛實之間、輪廓與背景之間的互動與角力。¹濃墨重彩的輪廓線條，與淡色渲染的背景空間兩相作用、互為表裡，使畫中石靈氣盎然。《雲凌神峰紙岩系列》尺幅驚人，為觀眾帶來極盡視覺震撼之餘，更為湯氏對中國文人賞石傳統帶來嶄新的演繹。湯氏在各大畫廊及博物館均曾經舉辦個人展覽，橫跨歐亞，包括北京、上海、南京、台灣、意大利、倫敦等地。
