註：翟大坤在十九世紀初的蘇州畫壇影響頗大，師隨者眾，張培敦外，陳墫即其一，但他傳世畫迹稀見，生平資料缺乏，以致身後聲名未彰。

陳墫，字仲尊，號葦汀，別署白堤花隱，蘇州人。善山水，大坤弟子，得其真傳。道光二十三年（1843）尚有作品，由此推斷，他應活躍於十九世紀初期至中期。本卷具江沅題引首，江氏字子蘭，同籍蘇州，受業於著名學者段玉裁，承囑撰〈說文解字音韻表〉十七卷，精音韻學，又擅書法，尤工小篆。道光十一年（1831），他在常州天寧寺受戒，穿僧衣，講禪學。題署本卷時尚用本名，應受戒前所書，由此推斷本卷或寫成於一八三一年或以前。

有謂陳墫山水「布墨用筆，尤近董其昌」，惟從本卷風格看來，不近玄宰，也稍異乃師，隱約見吳門文徵明影響的痕迹，且與當時較纖巧細膩的畫風結合，頗能反映時下畫壇風尚。卷中流露的氣質與文人畫一路接近，用筆細秀，畫工精密，卻不淪於甜俗，在佈局上疏密寬緊相濟，處理熟鍊中仍舒展自如，無雕飾之弊，足證出手不凡。
