Good overall condition, with just minor surface wear. The gilding is well preserved for a 4th/5th century figure, and there is typical malachite-green oxidisation, especially to the interior.

佐藤玄々，日本有名雕刻家，生於福島縣佛教雕塑世家，十七歲赴東京求學，1922年赴法二年，從學於著名雕塑家安托萬．布德爾（1861-1929年）。返日後，潛心雕塑，嘗工各樣材質，專注於佛教造像，獲頒日本藝術院會員。許多重要建築物和博物館皆存有佐藤氏的雕塑，包括他於1940年為紀念日本建國二千六百年所作的八世紀貴族——和氣清麻呂之青銅雕像，現置於東京皇居護城河畔。坂本五郎所蓄早期佛教銅像，多數屬佐藤氏舊藏，當中有十五尊尚保有其「阿吽洞」收藏標貼，木盒上還有其墨書題識及標籤。
