of rectangular form, the top of the cover worked in low relief with archaistic ruyi-shaped scrollwork, the short straight sides incised with key-fret, the smoothly polished stone of a warm yellow colour picked out with russet inclusions

The box and cover are in overall good condition. There are a few occasional very minute nicks or nibbling along the rim edges resulting from use. There is a tiny 0.2 cm lightly polished area to one corner of the cover, possibly to conceal a small nick.
