本圖標題下接題記，詳述中國疆域之遼闊及清廷治下之行政變革，署年道光三年（1823年）。題記云，本圖乃1767年黃千人（1694-1771年）所繪地圖的修訂版。而黃千人之地圖，乃參照其祖父黃宗羲（1610-1695年）所繪地圖而製。題記指名明儒黃宗羲之孫黃千人，應是暗揚黃氏家族世代博學文才輩出。題記亦彰顯滿清政府開疆闢土的功績，並肯定本圖已經完整修訂，切合時況。本圖納入西藏及新疆，顯示當時中國版圖正在擴張。
此地圖鉅細無遺地展示當時中國的疆域；朝鮮半島、日本列島、台灣及其他沿岸島嶼的位置描述大抵正確。海外諸國附列詳文，解釋各國與清朝邦交關係之由來。本圖銳意展示中國地形之豐富及山川之壯闊廣袤；並標示各省府縣及其他行政設置的名稱並括以方框，而其他形狀的外框意思有別，引文中亦有闡釋。
「此地圖有兩大藝術特色，恰到好處地表現出繪圖者所欲展示的天朝大國之風。其一為尺幅：本圖為八版連幅，尺幅恢宏，巍巍然滿佔觀者視角，突顯中國疆域之廣闊。 其二，此圖着色古雅，類似鈷藍及石綠，色調與唐代宗室畫家李思訓（651-716年）、李昭道（675-741年）喜用而風行於唐宮的石青石綠甚為相似，可見延續千年的文化傳承。」（摘自《All Under Heaven》展覽圖錄）
