elegantly potted with a voluminous body of generous proportion, painted in a lively style in washes of cobalt accented with 'heaping and piling', with a pair of magpies with handsome plumage, depicted sitting back to back, lovingly turning their heads to face the other, perching on an overhanging leafy branch of peach blossoms, springing from behind a craggy rock surrounded by clusters of bamboo, all beneath an elegantly waisted neck collared by a continuous classic scroll, between pendent trefoils framing the shoulders and upright plantain leaves below the gently everted rim, all above a ring of stylised lotus petals and a flaring foot decorated with further lotus blooms, the recessed base centred with a six-character reign mark enclosed within a double-circle

Condition

Overall good condition, with just two iron spots: a 0.1cm iron spot to the mouth rim, and a minute iron spot to the bird on the right (visible in the catalogue photo on page 147).

雍正帝善鑑明辨、審美不凡,在位年間所製御器,素以雅緻靈秀著稱。世宗尚古,青睞明代名瓷,詔命仿學復作,時動以新意,成器端莊秀麗。本品上追永樂遺風,清秀典雅,或屬孤例。明初永樂御瓷,繪飾承常見於小幅扇冊之北宋院體畫風,靈動之餘不失古樸。

倫敦大英博物館大衛德爵士舊藏永樂青花花鳥玉壺春瓶,妙繪二鳥立枝頭凝神對望,佳瓷傳世無雙,美名中外皆知,曾與紋飾相類之扁壺及梅瓶同載於康蕊君及霍吉淑,《大英博物館大維德爵士藏中國陶瓷精選》,北京,2013年,圖版28,又同展於《明:皇朝盛世五十年》,大英博物館,倫敦,2014年,編號71。察其形、觀其飾,本品皆見大維德玉壺春瓶之風,雍朝藝匠昔或以永樂窰例作藍本,溢明初高致清韻。然本瓶所繪之雌雄鳥尾相交,親密纏綿之狀,明初青花或清代仿古,皆未得見,別出心裁,獨見匠心。

清宮檔案實證,雍正造瓷,不盲循明器經典,自有個人創新。雍正曾命仿作一嘉靖青花盌,但以其圖紋有欠典雅,只取其形制而另造紋飾,見馮先銘,《中國古陶瓷文獻集釋》,台北,2000年,頁210-227。

明清御製青花瓷器,飾相類花鳥圖者極罕。與本品紋飾相類者,似乎僅見於另一雍正青花玉壺春瓶,然雙鳥姿態與本品不一,且無年號署款,售於倫敦蘇富比1998年6月16日,編號249,亦見於朱湯生,《中國瓷器—莊紹綏收藏》,香港,2009年,圖版33。另有一雍正玉壺春瓶例,器形與本品相同,頸足邊紋飾相仿,繪庭園景,承自清宮珍藏,現藏北京故宮博物院,見耿寶昌編,《故宮藏明初青花瓷》,北京,2002,編號199。

大維德爵士舊藏且有一永樂扁壺,前後各繪一鳥,曾入 Richard de la Mare、蘇林庵及玫茵堂雅藏,先後三次售於倫敦蘇富比,1974年4月2日,編號369,1995年10月31日,編號325,2011年4月7日,編號76。亦見一雍正扁壺,兩面各繪鳥兒成雙,售於倫敦蘇富比1990年12月11日,編號325,後售於香港佳士得,1999年11月2日,又載於《雲海閣》張宗憲珍藏重要中國瓷器展,倫敦,1993年,編號79,以及朱湯生,《中國瓷器—莊紹綏收藏》,香港,2009年,圖版34。

日本安宅氏舊藏永樂執壺,器形與本品相類,亦以枝上鳥為題,是為罕作,見《東洋陶磁の美─大阪市立東洋陶磁美術館コレクション》,大阪,2014年,圖版48。

花鳥畫風,北宋肇興。徽宗精書畫,尤好花鳥,遂大興其道。見一畫例,傳為徽宗御製,載於喜龍仁,《Chinese Painting, Leading Masters and Principles》,倫敦,1956年,圖版235。

此雍正玉壺春瓶,匠意可溯明初御瓷,繪雙雀纏綣,或因皇帝喜好,惜原由已不可考。自雍正登極御宇,正統之說紛擾不斷,故與歷代清帝相比,雍正尤篤信祥瑞寓意及吉兆之說。如雍正十二年(1734),清宮內務府檔案載供御節節雙喜大盌一對,或繪秀竹雙鵲,意為雙喜臨門、節節高升。
