Good condition. Original firing imperfections - one black spot to the interior of one bowl, the other with spots to the interior and one on the base. Insignificant surface scratching.

應受歐洲赭墨琺瑯彩瓷影響而生，墨彩紋飾首見於雍正一朝，是時初見以瓷仿擬不同材質器物。1732年，江西巡撫謝旻監編《江西通志》，記載雍正年間，年希堯及唐英擔任景德鎮御窰廠督陶官下，所燒造的各式器形，其中謝旻編載，號四十為墨彩瓷，此新技術讓畫師得以於瓷上，用濃淡墨色，筆法皴染，繪作傳統山水畫，並描寫其中人物、花鳥植栽等細節。墨彩瓷紋飾簡雅意深，符合雍正帝審美要求，且融會水墨之意境，極得帝王歡心。
蔡和璧，《清宮中琺瑯彩瓷特展》，國立故宮博物院，台北，1992年，頁2，此處導論提及雍正十年（1732）的一道聖喻，讚墨彩瓷道：「畫水墨畫琺瑯甚好，將畫畫人戴恆、湯振基伊二人著畫琺瑯活計，其所進之畫持出，再唐岱所進之畫亦持出，其餘活計俱好，著留下，欽此。畫畫人戴、湯二人改畫琺瑯。」
此對墨彩山水圖盌，絕妙悠遠，筆墨風格近明代文徵明隸屬之吳門畫派，以大膽濃墨和淡染，表現景緻遠近之感，筆觸亦是秀雅精妙。參考一對近類墨彩瓷盌，同書青花三行六字年款，出自 William and Jennifer Shaw 伉儷舊藏，原為倫敦蘇富比，1972年2月29日售出，編號265，後售於香港蘇富比1995年10月31日，編號552，最近一次於紐約蘇富比售出，2012年9月11/12日，編號83。亦可比較一對尺寸較小墨彩盌，展出於《清瓷薈錦：香港藝術館藏清代陶瓷》，香港藝術館，1984年，編號57。此對盌之繪畫風格，並可比較一件雍正仿木紋釉墨彩瓷筆筒，載於《香港蘇富比三十周年》，香港，2003年，編號164，二度售於香港蘇富比，1995年5月2日，編號150，及2005年10月23日，編號207。
